Home > News > Our Get Moving in May campaign raises more than £1,800 for the people we support
The money raised will go towards equipment and projects which will have an impact for the people we support.
The campaign captured imaginations across Brainkind, as our teams created activities so that the people we support, and our colleagues, could get moving in their own way. There were creative, inspiring activities including yoga, adaptive cycling, walking, dance classes, sports days and more.
A final push to the finish line
Enthusiasm did not falter in the closing days of the campaign!
At Fen House, our neurological centre in Ely, Cambridgeshire, the team organised a brilliant sports day and barbecue.
They will put the money towards physiotherapy and occupational therapy equipment, to support people with their care and rehabilitation.
Phoebe Rouse, Physiotherapy Assistant, told us: “It was a lovely and successful day, full of laughter, teamwork, and lots of fun.
“The people we support, our guests, and staff all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the delicious food prepared by our Chef, Charles Ockenden.”
Over the whole month, the team covered a huge distance of 942 miles. Phoebe said: “This means we virtually travelled to most of the Brainkind sites – all the way up to Glasgow and back again to Fen House!”
We also want to highlight the amazing efforts made by Vicki Bennett, Director of Operations North, and a team consisting of several colleagues – covering more than 8.3 million steps over the month – the equivalent of more than 3,900 miles.
Thank you to Vicki, Ian Aldred, Nicolette Spear, David Bruin, Dale Ward, Kerri Tunstall, Larene Bentley, Jonathan Shoebridge, Shelley Pestell, Bekki Lewis and Linda Guthrie.
Well done to Nicolette Spear, who also took part in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run Half Marathon as part of Get Moving in May.
An enormous thank you to all the people we support and our colleagues for making Get Moving in May so fun, inspirational and memorable.
