Two incredible supporters, Jake and Georgia, took on the Disneyland Half Marathon to raise vital funds for Brainkind, after Jake’s dad received support Brainkind Neurological Care Centre Lancashire last year.
Jake and Georgia gave it their all for Brainkind on 10th February, when they ran in the Disneyland Half Marathon in California.
The couple raised an incredible £1,225, which will help us to provide the best possible support for those recovering from a brain injury in our services, as well as help fund our vital research into brain injuries and the impact on people’s lives.
The cause is close to their heart, after Jake’s dad was left with a brain injury after suffering a severe heart attack last year.
After weeks in critical care, his dad was moved to the Brainkind Neurological Care Centre Lancashire, where he spent five months working with our dedicated team to rebuild his memory and skills.
“Thanks to [Brainkind’s] incredible work, Dad has made a decent recovery and he’s now living at home with my mum and the dog, who is his favourite child at this point,” said Jake.
Georgia and Jake were also fundraising for Cancer Research on race day, and we’re honoured to be chosen alongside this amazing charity.
“The race went great and we finished in three hours, four minutes. Faster than we expected! I’m sure these funds will go on to help in some small way and I’m proud I’ve been able to support your wonderful work!” they said.
If you’d like to support Jake and Georgia’s efforts for Brainkind, you can still donate to their Just Giving page here.
Our next big fundraising event is the London Marathon on Sunday, 27 April. We have a brilliant team of runners taking on the challenge in support of Brainkind who we’ll be shouting about on our Facebook page.
