Home / Wendy’s 70th birthday celebrations
Wendy celebrated her 70th birthday at Victoria House earlier this month and our brilliant team went above and beyond to ensure her milestone birthday was celebrated in style!
Organising a surprise party is no small feat, and the team pulled out all the stops to make it one of the best celebrations possible.
Chef Heather created a dedicated buffet spread and a decadent chocolate princess cake, which went down a treat. Vocational Recreational Activities Coordinator Angela decorated the room, so it felt extra special.
Support Workers Rachel and Annemarie helped Wendy get into the spirit of her birthday celebrations by curling her hair and providing balloons and presents.
It was a whole-team effort, with many of the staff at Victoria House getting involved to go that extra mile for Wendy.
Wendy shared:
“It was a smashing party and I was so happy. It was extra special my cousin and her husband coming, Sandra and Simon, they sat with me.” “I liked the buffet Heather the chef did, there was lots to eat. The cake was lovely; it was chocolate.”

Chef Heather said:
“When I knew it was Wendys 70th, I knew I had to go all out to make it special for her. Just seeing her face as she entered the dining room was priceless. Doing the buffet and the princess cake was such a pleasure just for that reason alone.”
Reflecting on the party and how the team supported her to enjoy her birthday, Wendy said:
“Angie did all the room for me; I had my hair done by support worker Rachel. Support worker Annemarie got me balloons and I got lots presents.”
For Support Worker Annemarie, going that extra mile can make all the difference in ensuring that the people we support feel part of their community. She said:
“I love doing what I can for any of the residents and Wendys 70th was so special and could not go unnoticed. I stayed back to help, and it was so heartwarming to be part of her special day.”
Vocational Recreational Activities Coordinator, Angela, commented on how this celebration was particularly poignant for her; a decade ago she was involved in Wendy’s 60th birthday, so to be able to do the same for her 70th felt equally as special.
“As Activities Coordinator I enjoy decorating the rooms for any party or birthday, but it was extra special to be able to do this again for Wendys 70th as I did 10 years ago for her 60th, it is so humbling to be part of making it great for her once again.”
