At Daniel Yorath House, we provide innovative rehabilitation and ongoing support to enable people to thrive after a brain injury. We aim to make sure that everyone can live as independently as they can in an environment that enhances their wellbeing.
Specialism: Acquired brain injury rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation
Daniel Yorath House is a neurological centre based in Leeds where people initially come for a 12-week assessment period, where they begin a rehabilitation period to support their recovery. Recovery is then reviewed and may be extended in further 12-week periods to allow for further rehabilitation to be supported.
The neurological centre comprises eighteen ensuite bedrooms, six with full bariatric tracking hoists. There is also a specialist-assisted bathroom. There are two fully equipped rehabilitation kitchens to support individuals to regain their daily living skills, a large comfortable communal lounge, a conservatory, and an extensive activities room.
Additionally, there is a ‘bungalow’ which comprises of a living area, kitchen area and bedroom with ensuite to allow people we support the opportunity to live in an environment with increased independence.
We have several specialist assessment and therapy rooms, a fully equipped physio gym and a large private garden to aid recovery.
Our specialist rehabilitation is based on a neuro-behavioural approach and focuses on enabling people to function more independently and develop their lives as they choose. The multi-disciplinary team has specialist assessment and therapy rooms to aid individuals in recovery.
The programme may include:
The people we support are actively involved in reviewing their progress against agreed outcomes, and we promote the involvement of families in the rehabilitation process. Home leave is encouraged wherever possible.
In addition to the neurological centre, there is a two-bedroom transitional supported living home close to Daniel Yorath House where people can strengthen their skills before moving onto a more independent environment.
Access to the wider community forms an integral part of the rehabilitation journey, and Daniel Yorath House’s proximity to shops and leisure facilities and easy access to Leeds and Wakefield make it ideally situated for community integration.
These locations also offer opportunities for education, training, and work placements.
