Home > News > York Professionals raise £5,749 for Brainkind: the brain injury charity
Susie Mortonson, Chair, York Professionals, said: “We had a record turnout of 210 guests to support The York Professionals White Rose Ball last week as the business community gathered to celebrate the professional services sector in York. With the support of local businesses and partners donating a range of brilliant prizes, a raffle and silent auction were held along with a unique take on stand up sit down bingo – ‘Hoss or Gloss’. Our guests gave extremely generously, which we were hugely grateful for, and we were delighted with the total amount raised, which far exceeded our fundraising target.”
Brainkind is the UK’s leading charity helping people to thrive after a brain injury, providing innovative rehabilitation and ongoing support for the people under their care. The recently developed Brainkind Neurological Centre York supports people with an acquired brain injury and complex needs such as cognitive, physical and/or emotional difficulties.
Irene Sobowale, Chief Executive of Brainkind said “We were truly honoured to have been this year’s chosen charity for the York Professionals Ball. It was a great night, with lots of merriment and laughter, underpinned by a collective group of professionals from across York who helped raise vital funds for Brainkind. The funds raised on the evening will go towards our outdoor space project at our hospital in York, which will provide therapeutic benefit to people who have suffered a brain injury. Thank you all!”
