Remy is York Racecourse’s equine ambassador, as part of a long running partnership with New Beginnings, a locally based rehoming and retraining racehorse charity. The idea is that he visits groups and communities who would benefit from the experience of meeting a racehorse.
Brainkind has recently become a Community Partner for York Racecourse and today Remy has visited the Brainkind Neurological Centre just next door to the racecourse. Remy and Poppy the pony brought smiles and laughter to people with acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions, their families and staff of the centre.
Our community partnership with York Racecourse gives us the opportunity raise our profile and tell York racegoers about our new hospital in the city.
They were very nice horses. I wish I could sit on them! I liked stroking them and I’d like them to visit us again.Karl Wane, Brainkind Neurological Centre York.

Brainkind is one of our Community Partners and has been a pleasure to be able to bring Remy and Poppy to meet our new neighbours today. Remy is a wonderful character who is very calm and loves meeting people. Working with Remy our Equine Ambassador and Poppy the pony, means people can experience and learn what horses do for people, and people for horses. We look forward to working with Brainkind on lots more projects during the coming year.Amy Swales, Head of Digital and Community Engagement, York Racecourse.

There was a real buzz yesterday at Brainkind Neurological Centre York as lots of the people we support met and have fun with Remy and Poppy. We laughed and even went nose to nose with horses. All the staff enjoyed themselves too and we were discussing the theraputic benefits that being with horses can bring to people with an acquired brain injuryHayley Wild, Speech and Language Therapist, Brainkind
