Irene Sobowale’s reaction to statistic that almost 400,000 people left their jobs in social care

Figures released today to the year end March 2023

We are shocked but not surprised by the statistic that almost 400,000 people left their jobs in social care in the year to March 2023.

Brainkind wants to pay our staff as much as we possibly can.   We support the campaign to equalise rates of pay and career progression between support workers in the care sector with those of the health care assistants in the NHS.  We can only achieve this if we receive the appropriate level of funding from our commissioners.

As a sector, we need to do more to make sure we can recruit and retain the right people.  If we don’t do this,  it is people with an acquired brain injury who will miss out on vital support.
