Social activities are essential to rehabilitation. These meaningful experiences raise spirits, spark joy, and bring people together. Our staff and volunteers do an incredible job ensuring that the people we support can have these experiences. But we can’t do it without incredible fundraisers, like Phoenix Squad, who give up their time to raise money for a good cause.
In this article, Brainkind’s Fundraising Officer, Richard Barwick, shares an uplifting insight into how donations make a real impact in the lives of the people we support.
A Day to Remember
Last week, residents from Osman House in Leeds enjoyed a much-anticipated day trip to Scarborough. This would not have been possible without the funds raised by our supporters. It was more than just a trip to the seaside. It was a meaningful, joyful experience that brought connection, confidence, and smiles all around.
The group set off bright and early, filled with excitement. After arriving in Scarborough, their first stop was the iconic Winking Willie’s. Everyone tucked into traditional fish and chips by the sea, a classic treat that set the tone for a fantastic day.
From there, they headed to the beach to enjoy the fresh sea air and feel the sand between their toes. Some paddled. Others simply took in the peaceful scenery. But everyone had a moment to relax and recharge.
It was then off to the arcades. Tubs of 2p’s were spent with laughter and friendly competition. It was a chance for everyone to engage, play, and celebrate a day out that many hadn’t experienced in a long time.
Why it Matters
These outings aren’t just fun. They are a vital part of rehabilitation and wellbeing. Getting out of the usual routine and into a new environment helps the people we support to:
Thank You
Trips like this wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our donors. Every penny raised counts. This day out to Scarborough is proof of the incredible impact it has. For those that couldn’t make it this time, another trip is being planned to Whitby.
