Home > News > Leeds disco raises more than £3,400
The fundraising total is now in, and we’re excited to let you know that the disco raised more than £3,400! The money will make a huge difference for the people we support.
The amazing total came through donations and sales of raffle and tombola tickets. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Andy and to the Podger pub in Garforth, where the disco took place; to DJ Leigh Nicholson, to everyone who came along on the night, and to all the local businesses who sponsored the event and donated prizes.
Your contributions mean a lot to all of us at Brainkind and to the people we support.
Andy was motivated to fundraise for Brainkind, having experienced a brain injury himself.
He said: “My life changed dramatically when I was assaulted in a bar. I spent seven days in an induced coma, two weeks in intensive care, and four weeks in hospital.
“My recovery required me to learn to walk again, retake both my theory and driving tests, and undergo intensive cognitive therapy followed by a full year of rehabilitation.
“My journey has been shaped by challenge and perseverance.”
Andy is now planning to host regular fundraising events for Brainkind.
Thank you again Andy, from everyone at Brainkind!
Fundraising events like the disco can have a huge impact for people who have a brain injury or other neurological conditions. Money raised by people like Andy can help fund things like activities and days out, vital equipment to support with rehabilitation, and much more.
We are grateful to everyone who gives up their time and puts such energy into making a difference for the people we support.
