GSK Joins The Great Brainkind Bake Off at Stagenhoe Park

Over the last two weeks, a team of volunteers from GlaxoSmithKleine (GSK), one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, have visited Brainkind Stagenhoe Park, a specialist neurological rehabilitation centre in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

The GSK volunteers joined people recovering from brain injuries and living with neurological conditions for a Brainkind “Bake Off” – two mornings of competitive brownie-making.

On Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 23 July, volunteers from GSK and residents at Stagenhoe Park worked together to bake delicious brownies. The panel of judges, comprising senior leaders from Brainkind, had a tough time choosing the eventual winners.

Fiona Beeming, Volunteer Coordinator at Brainkind Stagenhoe Park, said:

“We’re so grateful to the GSK team for visiting us in Hitchin. Volunteers can have an incredible impact on the people we support, from creating social connections to leading meaningful activities. This can help to support rehabilitation and create positive experiences for people dealing with difficult circumstances. The people we support had a fantastic time baking brownies with the GSK team – who brought warmth, kindness, and laughter.”

Sam Carey, Senior PA and Engagement Specialist at GSK, added:

“Thank you, Brainkind, for a lovely and inspiring day. The Stagenhoe team were wonderful, and they’ve created a wonderful home for the residents. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and so glad we could spend time with you and the residents. We are incredibly fortunate and grateful that GSK encourages us to enjoy volunteering as part of the Together Days initiative. This wonderful program allows us to give back to our community and make a positive impact to different charities we choose to work with, all while strengthening our team spirit and camaraderie. Thank you, GSK, for your unwavering support and commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and service.”
