Our Christmas window winners – Burnham Road and Kerwin Court

Our Christmas window winners – Burnham Road and Kerwin Court

Congratulations to our Christmas window competition winners – Burnham Road in the North, and Kerwin Court in the South! Lee and Vicki, our Operations Directors, selected our winners, who each win a £100 Love2Shop voucher to go towards something for the service.

Thank you to all our services who entered, and who took the time to put together some truly creative and inspired designs. It was wonderful to see all the windows and hear from you about how people got involved, as well as the reasons behind your creations.

Our winners shared with us about how they created their designs with the people we support.

Burnham Road, Leeds

Gillian, Community Support Worker, entered the competition on behalf of the service. Gillian told us:

“Our Christmas window wreath is composed of the people we support’s hand prints, cut out to imitate leaves. They helped by drawing around their hands and cutting out a template, which was used to recreate many more hands. The holly was picked out of the garden.

“We chose this design so that it had a part of the people we support incorporated into it.”

The Burnham Road team and the people we support told us how delighted they are to win!

“Brilliant news, this is the first time we have won anything!”

“Glad we took part, great news, we can buy something we will all enjoy for Christmas.”

Kerwin Court, Horsham

The service was chosen as a winner for their ‘Blessed Christmas’ window, featuring a beautiful gingerbread design.

Katie and Ethel, Rehabilitation Support Workers, came up with the idea and worked with the people we support to create the display. Katie told us:

“Our vision was for a gingerbread village in pink and gold. Ethel did lots of cutting out for the houses, out of cardboard, and the people we support helped decorate them, using things like cotton wool. Then, the people we support and some of our colleagues decorated one of the gingerbread men each.”

Yunes, Team Leader, added:

“Some materials we used were recyclable, like toilet roll, cartons and other remaining arts and crafts materials from previous activities.

“It was all about Christmas and what it means for the people we support.”

We also heard from some of the people we support who took part:

”This is such a great idea, I love helping out and feeling the Christmas spirit.”

”Even father Christmas would decorate his windows like this!”

“It’s a great way to engage everyone.”

“By decorating this I feel like I belong, that I matter.”

Well done again to our winners on your beautiful windows!
