Home > News > Celebrating International Volunteer Day
This Friday, 5 December, we join organisations around the world in celebrating International Volunteer Day to recognise the generosity, passion, and impact of volunteers everywhere.
Whether it is lending a hand at one of our services, supporting us at community events, or offering specialist skills, our volunteers help create the warm, welcoming, and empowering environments our people deserve.
Corporate volunteering has become an invaluable part of how we strengthen, enhance, and energise our services. When organisations choose to spend their time with Brainkind, the benefits ripple far beyond the hours people volunteer for both our services and the people we support.
At services like York and Stagenhoe, these benefits have been clearly visible in creating more vibrant outdoor spaces, improving accessibility, supporting activity days, and helping build environments that enhance the lives of the people we support.
The fresh energy and enthusiasm when teams arrive ready to get stuck in, brings a positive atmosphere that lifts both staff and the people we support. From gardening to decorating and revitalising communal areas, many improvements that would take weeks are completed in a single day thanks to the extra pairs of hands and help us deliver more enriching experiences for the people we support. Seeing local businesses and national partners actively support our services demonstrates that the people we support are valued and included.
Spending time at Brainkind helps organisations understand the specialist rehabilitation and care we provide, and the value of creating environments for people living with brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
Many of our corporate partners tell us they leave feeling inspired, energised, and more connected to each other and to the services.
Thank you to all those that volunteered and gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm.
While International Volunteer Day is a moment to celebrate all types of volunteering, we want to say a special thank you to the individuals who volunteer with us week in, week out.
From supporting therapeutic activities and community outings, to befriending and fundraising, our volunteers enrich the lives of the people we support in countless ways.
You are a vital part of Brainkind, and we could not do what we do without you.
If you are interested in volunteering or know someone who might be, visit our volunteering page. There are opportunities for everyone to get involved, whether individually or as part of a corporate team.
