Home > News > Apprenticeships at Brainkind – opportunities to grow and learn
This National Apprenticeship Week, we hear from some of our colleagues who have been studying alongside their day-to-day roles. They tell us what they’ve most enjoyed, what they’ve learned, as well as the challenges – and what they’ll be taking into the future.
An apprenticeship is a paid role, where you combine hands-on experience with classroom-based learning. It leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
The apprenticeships we offer can help our employees to develop their skills and experience within their chosen fields.
Carla Reid (pictured above, left), Community Support Worker, said:
“Thanks to Brainkind (and Steadfast, my training provider), I have been able to complete my Level 5 Healthcare Assistant Practitioner course. I was given study time to complete this with the support of my team and managers.
“Now, having achieved this qualification in December, I am about to begin my new role as Team Leader. I’m very much looking forward to this new challenge, and gaining more skills for continuing development – both for myself, and the services we provide to the people we support.”
What apprenticeships do we offer?
At the moment, we have colleagues doing apprenticeships in several areas:
We work with universities, colleges and other training providers.
Julie Haigh (pictured above, right), Occupational Therapy Apprentice, told us:
“I am in my second year at Huddersfield University. I am really enjoying the apprenticeship; it’s great to be able to constantly apply what I am learning at university into practice at work.
“It is hard work but it is definitely worth it. I am currently on a six week placement with the commnunity stroke team, and it has been a great opportunity to see how rehabilitation works in other settings. I am really enjoying my current placement.”
We’re proud to be able to support our brilliant colleagues with development opportunities. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our apprentices for their immense hard work and dedication – we can’t wait to see how your careers develop.
