The Brainkind board brings together a combination of clinical specialism and financial expertise. The board meets regularly throughout the year to devise innovative ways to improve the organisation.


Kathryn Greenberg
Kathryn has over 25 years of work experience, with 10 in fund management and investment analysis and 15 in NGO leadership at the Board level. Her contributions have included serving as Chairman of the Board at Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre, Hong Kong and as Founding CEO of the Shared Value Initiative Hong Kong – a platform for tri-sector cooperation of government, business and local NGOs. Kathryn shapes collaboration, managing multi-disciplined teams to deliver transformation for business and other organisations at the most senior level by adding value in strategic development, innovation management and operational organisation. Kathryn is an inclusive leader and a champion and advocates for rapid innovation, holistic healthcare within the community, and social welfare.
Eve Castel
Eve has twenty years of financial services experience across investment banking, asset management and consulting. She is a member of the investment team at Black Opal Ventures, investing in companies at the collision of healthcare and technology, with the goal of improving health outcomes. Previously she worked as a private equity/venture capital consultant on projects related to investor relations, responsible investing and sustainability/ESG (environmental, social and governance) policy/strategy design and implementation. Prior to that, she built structured fund solutions for institutional clients at Morgan Stanley, HSBC and Barclays. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Master of Business Administration from London Business School and a Master’s in Sustainability Leadership at the University of Cambridge.
Matt James
Matt James is the Chair of our Quality & Governance Committee. He has over 20 years of leadership experience in Health and Social Care, currently as the Chief Commercial Officer for Reset Health, a provider of digitally-delivered clinical services for the management of obesity and related conditions. For 10 years, he was the Founder and Chief Executive of The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN), a government-mandated not-for-profit source of data and information, working with every hospital in the country. Before PHIN, Matt was Chief Executive of the Private Hospitals Alliance, and held executive strategic and commercial roles with Care UK and Nuffield Health, two of the UK’s largest care providers. Matt has been an influential leader in building relationships between the NHS and independent sector: he was one of the architects of NHS patients’ right to a choice of providers, and an expert witness in three major national patient safety inquiries. Before entering healthcare, Matt was a management consultant with expertise in the public and private sectors, business development, data analytics, innovation, and large-scale change programmes.
Caroline Reid
Caroline is a highly experienced NHS commissioner with a 30-year career history of working with mental health, learning disability, autism and acute service providers operating at borough, regional and national levels. Caroline is currently the Regional Director of Commissioning at NHS England and Improvement, South East Region. She is responsible for strategically leading and overseeing the direct commissioning and transformation of NHS primary care services, specialised services, health and justice services and NHS public health services in the South East region. Caroline has an in-depth understanding of issues relating to mental health services, learning disabilities and autism provision. She has created and led several teams, including the first dedicated mental health commissioning team in London, an integrated acute and mental health specialised commissioning function for south London and most recently, a high performing Covid-19 vaccination programme team in the South East region.
Richard Wilson
Richard chairs the Audit & Risk Committee and is vice chair. He is a chartered accountant and was a partner at EY for over 30 years. He has gained over those years a broad knowledge of working with Boards and management across several sectors including healthcare. Richard is also a trustee of Change, Grow, Live, a healthcare charity; Go Beyond, a charity that works with children from deprived backgrounds and The Harpur Trust, an education and local community support charity He was previously a trustee at Victim Support and The Challenge.
Dr Annabel Bentley
As an independent healthcare consultant Annabel offers a unique insights on governance, strategy and the future of healthcare. Combined clinical and commercial expertise: originally trained as an NHS surgeon, she’s worked in commercial organisations for over 30 years, including digital start up, is a patient safety activist and is a Trustee for Brainkind, formerly Chief Medical Officer AXA Health, Executive Medical Director for InHealth (diagnostic services) and Medical Director for Bupa UK. An experienced committee chair, she’s set up clinical risk committees and governance frameworks for multisite healthcare organisations; and is a persuasive change agent having led culture change to reduce avoidable harms to patients and staff. Annabel provided evidence to the government’s Paterson Inquiry (2020) and was a member of the Department of Health’s Expert Working Group for the first Information Standard. She held a 7 year term as Responsible Officer for doctors.
Britt Iverson
Britt has over 20 years’ experience in the creative industries as an award-winning Strategist, and is the Executive Head of Strategy at Havas London, part of the Havas Vivendi group, where she oversees brand positioning and communications strategy for clients including the Department for Education, The Open University, Asda, Molson Coors, and Reckitt. She spent a decade at the legendary creative agency Mother working across Unilever, Diageo, UKTV and the Observer; was strategy partner at Fabula London where she helped launch Ovo Energy, and co-founded the publishing duo Visual Editions, working with Google Creative Lab and winning multiple awards including a Peabody for mobile storytelling. She’s a disability inclusion advocate, and a champion of women and underrepresented groups, mentoring for both WACL and the Creative Mentor Network to drive a more equal industry and society. She helped Havas London win the acclaimed Channel 4 Disability Award for Vanish together with ‘Ambitious About Autism’ in 2022, and a subsequent Gold Lion for Creative Strategy at Cannes Creative Festival in 2023 and has written about the often-unacknowledged superpowers of carers in work.
Tom Billington
Tom is a strategy and programme management professional, leading projects across various sectors -including Arts, Heritage, Culture, Leisure, Commercial and Education. He has extensive knowledge of built assets, having worked on contemporary buildings and large construction sites (such as the London Olympic Park), whilst also having been accountable for the management and development of over 100 listed buildings and structures -including being responsible for the estates of 2 UNESCO world heritage sites. Tom also has sector leading knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of strategies relating to the built environment and significant capital development programmes which contain diverse projects – whose aims span regeneration, income generation and public outreach. He has recently completed a masters degree at the University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership where his research investigated how organisations can effectively align the use of their built environment to their mission and purpose. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), Member of Cultural Knowledge and Outreach Committee, Royal institute of British Architects (RIBA,) a Liveryman and holder of the Freedom of the City of London and a Member of Fabric Advisory Committee of Rochester Cathedral (Church Commissioners appointment).
Tom Warner
Tom Warner is Professor of Clinical Neurology at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, and Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He has 25 years of experience as a consultant neurologist having previously worked as a neurologist in community, district general and teaching hospital settings. For the last 10 years at UCL he has been Director of the Reta Lila Weston Institute for Neurological Studies and Head of the Queen Square Brain Bank, a unique global research resource for study of human brain tissue from people with Parkinson’s disease and various dementias. He heads a research team at UCL studying the clinical and pathological features and cell biology of Parkinson’s disease and genetic conditions characterized by problems with movement, including dystonia, spastic paraplegia and Huntington’s disease. Tom is UCL chair of a unique partnership between UCL and the pharmaceutical company Eisai, to harness the expertise in drug discovery and deliver new treatments for neurodegenerative conditions including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. He also works with several neurology charities including the Dystonia UK and Dystonia Europe, for whom he is a medical advisor. He has been involved in national neurology leadership for the last 8 years as member of the Association of British Neurologists Executive committee and was President from 2021-2023.

People with brain injuries and other neurological conditions have unique needs. To help as many people as possible, we have a network of neurological centres, assessment and rehab services, and community support services across the UK.
